When you first enter ShadowMUD, you will find yourself in a city called
Kieron. This city caters to adventurers, and has a bank (two south), several
information boards (two north and west), shops, restaurants (west, then south),
and five different class halls centered around the town square. The old man in
town square offers a lot of information, simple <ask old man about topics>
to see what you can question him about.

The newbie store is north and west of the kieron square. The newbie store will
offer free equipment and sells newbie potions that have different
effects.

Along with the newbie school is also the entrance to the newbie school that will
help teach you the basics of the game, in any room you can use <hint>
if you get stuck in the school to see if there are hints to move on. At any point
you may use the <rescue> command to leave the school and return
later to complete it.

These class halls are where you should go next, for you must choose a class
to associate with before you can venture out of Kieron. There are five classes
    Mage
    Fighter
    Cleric
    Monk
    Rogue

Each class has a help file associated with it (type <help> to see them) and
each file will tell you a little about that class. Choose your class, be sure
to stop by the newbie shop (north of the square) to get yourself outfitted as
well as newbie school to help teach you the basics, and then it is off too explore!

Some help topics you might want to try:
    consider, *player commands, smfaq

Quickfaq command will at any time list common commands and useful help topics.

If you get lost while exploring and adventuring as a newbie you can <rescue>
at most locations and be returned to the Kieron town square.

One final note, if you ever need help you can ask on the newbie line, all
newbies and players level 20 and higher have access to answer questions if they
are around.
